All children and youth need to be nurtured through their development. Research indicates that even the most vulnerable young people can change their lives when effective interventions and supports are delivered. Genuine Concern for Others Inc. envisions becoming an intentional partner in providing supports and opportunities that address this developmental imperative.
Reading Tutors Local elementary schools recruit volunteers to serve as reading tutors. Through cooperation with school administrators, volunteers are assigned to tutor targeted low performing readers. Volunteer commitments are 60 minutes a week (minimum) for a school semester. Contact your local school to help. Young people can also serve as reading tutors and receive school credit towards their community service requirement. Youth can serve as cross-age tutors in after school programs without conflicting with their own school needs. "Love cannot remain by itself; it has no meaning.
